The Bilbao Knutsen, a former LNG carrier converted into a floating storage unit (FSU), has arrived at Puerto Cortés, Honduras. It will support the country’s first LNG-to-power project, under an 18-year agreement with Genesis Energias.
- Genesis confirmed the vessel had passed all regulatory inspections to ensure compliance with safety and reliability standards.
- However, the company has not disclosed when the terminal will begin operations or when the first LNG cargo will arrive. It also remains unclear whether supplies will be sourced on the spot market or through long-term contracts.
- The FSU is intended to supply LNG to the Brassavola power plant, though its construction appears incomplete, despite reports of operations starting in 2024.
