A bullish theme in Bobl futures remains intact and the latest pullback is considered corrective - for now. Key resistance at 115.180, the May 29 and Jun 16 high, has recently been cleared. The clear breach of this hurdle confirms a resumption of the uptrend that started May 19, and opens 115.610 next, a Fibonacci projection. On the downside, key short-term support lies at 114.180, the May 10 and 11 low. Initial support is at 114.940, the Jun 23 low.
Oil prices are slightly higher today after reports that Iran had again attacked shipping in the Strait of Hormuz signalling that vessels remain vulnerable in the area. Markets will now be watching for a US response. WTI rose to a high of $69.32/bbl before easing and is currently up 0.7% to $69.01/bbl. Brent reached $72.75/bbl, not threatening initial resistance at $78.47, and is now up 0.7% to $72.50/bbl. The BBDXY USD index is flat.
Recent gains in EURUSD appear to be corrective. The pair has pierced 1.1463, the 20-day EMA. A clear break of this average would signal scope for a stronger recovery, potentially towards 1.1543, the 50-day EMA. A bearish trend condition remains intact, highlighted by moving average studies that are in a bear-mode position. The bear trigger lies at 1.1325, the June 24 low. A break of this level would confirm a resumption of the downtrend.
