A bull cycle in AUDUSD remains intact for now and last week’s fresh cycle high reinforces the short-term bull theme. Price has recently breached the 50-day EMA, at 0.7013, highlighting a stronger recovery and, Friday’s gains delivered a print above 0.7071, 50.0% of the May 6 - Jun 30 bear leg. A continuation higher would open 0.7112, the 61.8% retracement. The first important support lies at 0.6922, the Jul 29 low.

US STOCKS: Late Equities Roundup - Geo-Pol Tension Saps Sentiment

  • US equity indexes see-sawed off marginally higher territory late Tuesday morning after Iranian officials stated the Hormuz Strait remains closed "until conditions are met". This after risk sentiment drew modest support on headlines that US/Iran talks are "close to some arrangement" citing Pakistan officials.
  • Near late session lows, the DJIA trades -.35%, SPX emini -.4%, the Nasdaq -0.7%.
  • Crude prices reversed early gains on the headlines recovered in the second half - oil and gas stocks supported with Marathon Petroleum Corp +3.6% after Mizuho raised their price target to $304, Phillips 66 +3.4%, while Valero Energy Corp gained 2.4%.
  • Industrials remained buoyed ahead midday: Axon Enterprise Inc +6.75%, Generac Holdings Inc +3.95%, Eaton Corp PLC +3.2% and Vertiv Holdings Co +3.0%.
  • On the downside, Communication Services and IT sector stocks underperformed: media & entertainment stocks weighed on the former: AppLovin Corp -5.6%, Alphabet -3.55%, Fox Corp -2.35%. The IT sector lagged with the following -3.5-4.5%: Datadog Inc, Dell Technologies Inc, Oracle Corp, Adobe Inc and Gartner Inc.
